The pay-per-view event will happen on Nov. 3 within Madison Square Garden. The UFC hasn’t yet declared a most important event for the card.
Both of these middleweights met previously at a 185-pound name fight at UFC 194 in December 2015. Rockhold maintained the middleweight championship by beating Weidman through TKO in the fourth round.
Rockhold (16-4), of San Jose, fought Yoel Romero to the interim name at UFC 221 before this season also came up short by knockout. He’d believed a move up into the 205-pound weight class but has reportedly postponed that proceed in favour of their Weidman rematch.
He has been sidelined with a thumb injury because, but stays in the thick of title contention at 185 lbs.
